&lt;p&gt;I tried the Mac Mini here (1.42GHz G4, 1GB RAM). Playing the XMen 3 Trailer, it wavered between roughly 5fps to 12fps - it dropped quite a few frames.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;So, the older Mac Mini is definitely not suitable for 1080p playback.&lt;/p&gt;
